Okay, so we know that living with chronic illness sucks. When I feel my worst, I still want to do something super quick and easy to make my face look a little better than how I feel on the inside. I’ve come up with a two minute or less routine that helps me feel a little more human, helps me face the world, saves me lots of time, is easy on the wallet, and best of all, DOESN’T take a lot of energy.
I have my regular everyday two minute routine, and hopefully, it’ll help you to face the world and hide the redness!
I know, you and I both are running low on energy, that’s why we’re here. I will show you ways to get up and out the door to face the world with minimal spoon loss.
I have trouble falling asleep, but once I’m asleep, I really, really have a hard time getting out of bed. I get up about 30 minutes before I have to leave for work, and I have a 5 minute routine that’ll help get your game face on.
There are a select few products that I use every morning when I’m pressed for time. For me, that’s Monday through Friday. Much of my morning I spend hitting snooze which invariably leaves me with little time for getting ready for work, so I need products that are very user friendly. My makeup routine for the work-week is super quick, efficient and easy on the wallet.
Eye Primer/Concealer
The first item I grab is my Wet & Wild Megaglo Makeup stick. I use it as my eyeshadow primer AND my concealer. If I’m reeeeeally crunched for time, just using it on my eyes, both on my eyelids and sometimes under my eyes, and just that is enough to help me feel a little put together and not look so tired and wiped out. I sweep it across my eyelids and dab it around with my fingertips to blend it out so there are no lines or hard edges. It helps me feel better just using it by itself.

My daughter uses the highlighter makeup stick by Wet & Wild under her eyes every day. It goes on super easy, you can blend it with your fingertips and does a great job of hiding the “tired” too.
If you have dark spots or redness that’s hard to hide with other concealers, try one of these makeup sticks and apply it to those areas either with a flat concealer brush or a rounded foundation brush. Elf cosmetics has great brushes at super affordable prices.
Eyeshadow
Every day, I use the makeup stick as an eyeshadow primer. Sometimes that’s all I have time for, and that’s okay. Most days, I top it with my all-time favorite, CoverGirl’s eye shadow in “Bedazzled Biscotti.” It’s just enough to help me feel like I’ve made an effort. It’s a little sparkly, to give your spirit a boost. It’s VERY forgiving, for those days when your aim may be a little off or your hands are shaky. That’s pretty much every day for me. It’s just enough to make you feel human, it’s but looks nice anytime of day and for any occasion.
If I have an extra minute or two, I use this color all over my eyelid up to my browbone. Then I switch to eyeshadow with a little more color along the eye lid. Like one of the Sephora Collection eyeshadows in “#227 – Romantic Comedy”, “#365 – Glazed Donut”, or “225 – Morning Freshness”. My daughter loves “Romantic Comedy”, it’s her go-to color for everyday wear. They’re a little more color, but still great for those of us who have a hard time staying in the lines. They’re only $8.00 on Sephora’s website.
Mascara
The last thing I put on my eyes is mascara. I have been using Maybelline’s Full ‘N Soft waterproof mascara in Very Black for YEARS. Probably 15 or 20 years at least. Not kidding. I wear contacts, and I used to have one eye that watered constantly, and this is my favorite mascara. It’s safe for contact lens wearers, waterproof and easily removable. When my eye was constantly watering, it didn’t leave me looking like a raccoon. It also comes in a washable formula. This runs between $5.99 and 8.99, depending on where you buy it.
The other go-to mascara I’ve come across in the past couple of years is L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara. It goes on a little thicker for nights out on the town. This mascara also comes in both waterproof and washable formulas.
Both of these mascaras are fuss-free, smudge-proof and clump-free. The are easily removable with your favorite makeup remover. If you’re like me, you don’t have the energy left at the end of the day to remove your makeup before you go to bed. If you leave it on while you sleep, it won’t end up all over your pillowcase or smeared all over your face. Bonus.
If you have a go-to makeup routine that’s easy on the budget and easy on you, please feel free to send me a message here for a chance to be added to this post.
